Phytotoxicity and Accumulation of Cadmium in Brassica chinensis L.
This study was conducted to study phytotoxicity and accumulation of cadmium in Brassica chinensis L. (hydroponic system) Observed and recorded every 7 days for 28 days. And the concentration of cadmium in each part of B. chinensis biomass were measured by ICP method. The result showed that B.chinensis were effected by cadmium toxicity, even in lowest concentration (5 μmol/L.) which result in chlorosis and crooked leaf and reduced leaf size. The symptoms was more severe in high cadmium concentration. Moreover, necrosis were found in 20 and 40 μmol/L. But in every treatments stem grew slowly, had short and cluster root. Biomass was highest in control treatment and decreasingly with increasing concentration. Cadmium accumulated in root and shoot rather than in leaf.
